Schwebach, J. R. (2017). Cell Structure and Function: Mastering the Big Ideas. San Diego: Cognella Academic Publishing. 188 pp. ISBN 978-1-63487-903-3.
A workbook for university and advanced high school biology students on biochemistry and cell structure and function, with study questions, drawing pages, peer worksheets and downloadable pencasts. Twelve George Mason University learning assistants and undergraduate researchers contributed to it. Cognella holds the rights and sells it as a course text, so there is no open-access edition; instructors can request an examination copy from Cognella. A later edition is listed as Cell Structure and Function, ISBN 978-1-5165-5576-5.
Student research journals
Two student research journals, twenty years apart. Students write each volume and are credited on it. Dr. Schwebach founded and sponsored Beacon Science at The Beacon School in New York City, 2004–2006, and edits and mentors Battlefield Science at Battlefield High School; Teaching #10 tells how it started.
