Hold the microscope, focus it yourself, and find out how small you can see
A drawn compound light microscope that answers to your hands. Send the green dot to the part you would touch, focus a printed letter, three threads and a moss leaf from 4X up to 40X the way a careful biologist does it, work out total magnification and the size of a cell, and zoom from a penny to bacteria to the edge of what light can show.
Nothing is submitted. Progress saves on this device, so a second sitting picks up where the first stopped. Tap any step number to open that step; a number lights up only for a step you have finished. iPad gives every button a bigger touch target; Computer draws a denser picture. Help changes the help around the task, never the task itself. Fill screen hides everything but the tool. The Play button runs the whole focusing procedure as a movie.
First tries only: a part touched wrong and then found is the point of the tool, not a failure. Come back another day and run the module again; the second record is the one to trust.
Separate from the practice above: questions on using the microscope, the labs it serves, what light can and cannot show, and the other kinds of microscope that exist. Every answer is explained, and a wrong answer says where to go back to. Numbers are permanent, so a teacher can name one.
